Outside Initiatives has led or participated in many successful events from horse expositions, open houses, farm visits, sponsorships to community fairs, sports events, and educational activities. We are excited to list the following events with horses
For more information regarding these events, please use our Contact Us page for an Outside Initiatives representative.
Parents, teachers, and kids tell us that our programs are much more thorough, informative and fun than camps which are 3 to 4 times the cost of our programs.
Keeping our costs at these low prices depends on volunteers. We thank our adult volunteers for helping us be AMAZING. Be part of this experience. Volunteer and have fun! There are some families that although they work very hard cannot afford this amazing and educational experience for their children. We do what we can for them. SPONSORS for these families are greatly appreciated and very beneficial to our community.
Please contact us if you can VOLUNTEER or SPONSOR a child for the camps. We train our volunteers well to ensure fun and quality programs. If you need a sponsorship please let us know.
We try to ensure every child has the opportunity to attend.

Outside Initiatives has scheduled their 2016 spring and summer events. If you know of young people that would like to be involved and benefited by this experience, or you want to schedule an event with us, please contact us using the information on the bottom of this page.
IT’S NOT JUST WHAT WE DO, IT’S HOW WE DO IT!
Here are some of our upcoming programs:
January 9-March 19 Winter Leaders Program. Every Saturday the leaders of tomorrow gather with the horses of today to learn some important leadership traits: Patience, Trust, Understanding, Loyalty, Respect, Honesty, Courage, Integrity, and much more. They work hard on truly leading their very intelligent partners, the mini horses. They learn to maneuver in all sorts of situations using only the traits listed above to guide themselves and their horses to success. These are the people we all want to have as leaders! The horses do a great job training them.
April 21 Annual Cub Scouts Event. Each year we specially design an adventure filled day for Cub Scouts to come and earn some merit badges while they have an awesome day OUTSIDE! We plan with the local Den Leader for these events. Scouts tell us this is their favorite thing to do! We get lots of outdoor exercise and build great childhood memories while getting a great education!
May TBA Fun with horses. The local preschool gets a few hours fun at the ranch and the horses like it too!
May 21 Parents and Partners! Mini Horse Event and Gourmet Lunch. One-day fun filled learning event with horses. Designed for parents who would like to experience the world of mini horses, one-on-one with their child. After we have had a great time with our miniature horses, we will have a great lunch for our oh-so-special Parents and Partners! This day will not only be fun, but it teaches us humans a lot about ourselves, our relationships and horses! 5 partner slots available.
June 27-30 Our flagship 4-Day Mini Horse Camp for kids 8-18. This camp has a great pace of learning lots of things. Leading, Parade Work, Obstacle Courses and Jumping. We have so much fun, kids hate to see it end! No experience needed and we provide all horses. Lunch included. No junk food. 10 slots available
July 5-8 Repeat of 4-Day Camp.
July 12-14 Flowers, Feathers and Friends Three-day camp of grooming and decoration of horses. This really teaches anatomy and compassion. But we have a great time with the horses too! Lunch provided no junk food. 10 slots available.
July 18-20 3-Day Obstacle Course. 4-day camp experience required. We have learned how to handle a horse, now we work as teams to design and build interesting new courses for them each day. The last day is the mystery course! Come see what that is! 10 slots available.
July 24 Summer Reading Program We will be at the Brownsville Library for our annual public event! READY, SET, GO!!! Public event.
August 1-3 Kinder Camp ages 5-7. This is a light version of the 4-day camp. The kids do a great job and they have a great time. Lunch Provided. No junk food. 5 slots available.
The End. We end each season with kids who want more horse time so we have a club style late summer early fall offering. This is announced at the end of each camp. Open to our horse campers.
“Best place ever! Took our cub scouts last Friday. We have some that are pretty hyper. Once they got around those horses, wow what a difference!” Lori Bryan, Police Dispatcher Together people and horses teach each other respect, trust, responsibility, patience, loyalty and courage.
